Holger Baer

er Baer is serving as Secretary-General for NWMUN-Portland. He has been involved in MUN conferences in Europe and the USA for many years, and has had various staff roles during this time, including serving as both the Director-General and Secretary-General of NMUN-NY. He has studied in Germany, Estonia and Canada and holds a B.A. in Economics and Social Sciences as well as a M.A. in Political Science. He currently works as a research fellow at the Free University of Berlin, Germany and is interested in environmental and sustainability policies and the greening of the economy. He is also an avid football/soccer fan, and is looking forward to visiting a Portland Timbers game.

Amanda Wong
Amanda Wong has been involved with Model UN in various capacities for over 10 years. She is serving as Director-General of NWMUN Portland 2015 and has previously served at the NWMUN Seattle and Portland conferences as Committee Staff. Amanda has served as DG at the Canadian International Model United Nations and Committee Staff for NMUN. Amanda graduated with a BA in Political Science from Simon Fraser University and is currently completing an MSc in Environmental Science. Amanda has worked in Human Resources for 5 years in the public and private sector and she is pursuing a specialization in conflict resolution.

Sara Leister
Chief of Staff

Sara Leister serves as Chief of Staff for NWMUN-Portland 2015. She joins the Executive Secretariat with five years of Model UN staffing experience, including at NWMUN-Seattle and National Model United Nations - New York. She also served as a Director for NMUN-Northwest this past year. Sara graduated from Western Washington University in 2011 with a degree in international relations and economics, where she spent two years serving in leadership for the International Affairs Association. Currently Sara works at VisionFund International, the microfinance arm of World Vision.

Ardis Smith
Assistant Secretary-General for Logistics

Ardis Smith has been involved with Model United Nations since 2007. She has served on staff with the National Model United Nations conference in New York since 2011; in addition, she has also staffed NMUN conferences in Washington, D.C., Rome, and was the ECOSOC Plen Director at NMUN-NW in Portland in 2014. Ardis has also served as Executive Director for two regional high school conferences in Utah, where she currently lives. Ardis graduated with a B.A. in History from Brigham Young University and a MPhil in Historical Studies from the University of Cambridge. A Portland native, she is excited for the opportunity to work with NWMUN-Portland.

Alvin Loong
Assistant Secretary-General for Conference Services

Alvin Loong is returning to NWMUN-Portland as the Assistant Secretary-General for Conference Services, having led the conference services team in Portland last year as well.  He has been involved with Model UN since high school, helping establish his high school's team for WASMUN, and now serves as a member of WASMUN's Executive Board. Alvin is currently pursuing a BA in International Studies at the University of Washington, with minors in Global Health and Environmental Science, and is also an officer with Model United Nations at the University of Washington. As a native of Seattle, he is excited to see NWMUN take root with his counterparts in Portland.
